The first movie,which came out in Japan before the first season of Digimon, is labeled "Digimon Adventure". It was released in USA and Germany at different times, together with the second (Our Wargame) and third movie (Hurrican Touchdown & Supreme Evolution) as "Digimon: The Movie".

He was shown earlier because, he contains the previous history of the first season. It tells the story of 8 kids which became the DigiDestined while focusing Taichi and his sister Hikari (Kari), which was only a few years old. This story was talked about for short, when Gennai explains the kids, why they became the DigiDestined, in season one.

One night when Tai pays the toilette a visit, he sees the PC of his father glowing up and transfering an weird egg to his world. Together with Hikari he hides this egg in their shared room. At the next morning Tai thinks about the egg as dream, but frightened much, when finding the egg still in his sister's bed. The parents of them leaved the house very early already, the two kids are alone at home and so they can care for the egg. When eating breakfast the egg falls down and moves on itself when Hikari tries to take it up, then it hatches. A little black animal jumps out of the egg and hides under the bed of the kids. There he shoots bubbles against Tai, but when Hikari comes he stays friendly, this way it comes out. After a little time it changes appearance again and becomes an fluffly pink being, it now can speak and says his name is Koromon and he is a Digimon. Later this night Koromon is afraid of something and changes appearance once more. It becomes a very big Agumon. Hikari doesn't fear him and rides on him around the city. Altough the little kid has many fun her brother Tai is worried about her and runs after them. Finally catching up to them, he sees Agumon fighting against an enormous parrot, Parrotmon. It doesn't stands a chance even when evolving to Greymon. Tai and Hikari tightly watch them fighting. But Greymon can't beat Parrotmon. After Tai uses an thunderer whistle it wakes up and finally defeats the big grown bird. Both Digimon disappear from one second to another. Hikari yells after Koromon while the sun is rising and Tai thinks the last words in the end. Not only the 2 kids are witnesses about this event, but also six other as well, these 8 kids changed they destiny constitutional by watching this battle.

The ending is very lovely and simple as well. You see Greymon getting caressed by Tai. The background is a mix of warm colours, while the foreground is made-up by simple coloured gras. The music used is the same as for the first season opening, "Butter-Fly" by Wada Kouji in one of the theatre versions (a pretty short one). The credts are shown at the ending as well.
